Cobb Executive Women Announces Partnership with KSU Women’s Leadership Center

Cobb Executive Women, a professional development and leadership program presented by the Cobb Chamber, announces its partnership with the Coles College of Business Women’s Leadership Center at Kennesaw State University. As part of this partnership, Cobb Executive Women will gain access to all Women’s Leadership Center programming and events, which support professional development, growth and advancement through research, education in leadership, best practices and networking. It will also provide exposure to relevant higher degree programs and participation in and access to applied research.

The Women’s Leadership Center (WLC) membership is made up of corporate women’s affinity and employee resource groups that collaborate to increasing representation and retention of women in leadership positions within its organizations. The Center includes as its members companies such as ADP, AGCO, Assurant, Belk, Diversified Search, Ernst & Young, JLL, Kelly Services, Kilpatrick Townsend, KPMG, McKesson, Northside Hospital, PNC Bank, PWC, and SignatureFD.

Participating Cobb Executive Women (CEW) members will have access to regular programming, such as quarterly speakers, panels and networking events. This includes the opportunity to participate in the Women Leading Information Technology group’s monthly programs currently offered only to WLC members. CEW members will have the opportunity to participate in the WLC’s two premier annual events at a deeply discounted rate. For $75, each CEW member may choose to attend one of two signature events and one quarterly Executive Roundtable meeting. The next signature event will feature Carey Lohrenz, first female fighter pilot in the U.S. military, who will speak about teamwork and leadership. The regular membership fee for Women’s Leadership Center members to access programs and networking opportunities is approximately $5,000.

We are very excited about our partnership with Cobb Executive Women,” said Erin Wolf, Executive Director of the Women’s Leadership Center. “Both organizations look forward to working together to increase the number of women in leadership roles in Cobb County and the Metro Atlanta area. Our expectation is that we will be able to collaborate on a number of fronts going forward.”

April Wright, 2015 chairwoman for Cobb Executive Women and principal of 524 Creative, is enthusiastic about the partnership as well. “Our partnership with the Women’s Leadership Center is directly in line with CEW’s primary goal in 2015: to bring our members the opportunity to grow professionally as leaders, make meaningful connections and do business with one another,” said Wright. “The Women’s Leadership Center consistently features world-renowned speakers from all over the country, speaking on relevant topics that have a big impact on current and future women leaders. This is an amazing opportunity that all executive women can benefit from.”

Cobb Executive Women (CEW) is a professional development and leadership program presented by the Cobb Chamber dedicated to cultivating mutually beneficial and supportive professional relationships among executive women in Cobb County. This is accomplished by providing diverse opportunities for educating, inspiring, and empowering women leaders to achieve their full potential. Activities include luncheons, seminars and speakers. CEW also presents the Woman of Distinction award each May, which recognizes a woman who has demonstrated exceptional leadership through her professional endeavors, community involvement, ethical sensitivity and social responsibility thereby supporting and advancing their community and respective fields. CEW is comprised of members who are at the executive level with their companies, professionals, elected officials, have a strong record of community involvement, are members of the Chamber and are responsible for decision making and managing staff.

The Coles College of Business Women’s Leadership Center is dedicated to helping female students and professionals reach their leadership potential through innovative research, actionable programs that educate a wide audience of men and women, and a focal point for women’s networking where they learn to be rainmakers for themselves and others. The Center’s main objective is to help women find the key to unlocking the doors to higher levels of achievement in their careers in corporate America, higher education, not-for-profit organizations, or as entrepreneurs. The WLC achieves its mission through innovative research, education and community engagement.
