Cobb Chamber of Commerce

Letter from the Chairs

June 2017

Can you believe we are already six months in to 2017? The time is quickly flying and for the last few months many of us have been involved in a lot of fast paced and positive planning processes with the Honorary Commanders Alumni Association organizational changes that have been taking place. We couldn’t be more excited to see everything beginning to mesh together!

We would like to start off by thanking Lee Davis and Leslie Hammond for their trust in us, in heading up this new adventure with the HCAA. Our vision is to engage/re-engage as many alumni as possible while ensuring we are stay connected to our servicemen and women, veterans and their families. We know that without the involvement of our alumni, civilian and military, and those who serve/have served our great nation, our ability to freely be a part of such a great country and amazing local organization would not exist as it does today. That alone energized us to get straight to work!

Our first mission, to establish a strong Executive Board, was easier said than done. We quickly discovered an abundance of enthusiastic alumni, willing to give their time and energy and supporting the passion of “the understanding and engagement of our military and community.” It was indeed a good problem to have, but with careful consideration, we sought out members who graciously accepted the challenge of serving as committee chairs on the Executive Board. Individual committees of active alumni will support the committee chairs with fresh ideas and increased opportunities to remain engaged with our military.

Please take a moment and meet the members of the 2017 HCAA Executive Board, and help us congratulate them as you see them in passing Executive Board. We look forward to introducing you to them, along with their committee members, as the year progresses. We truly cannot thank them enough for their dedication to hang in there with us for 2017 and look forward to seeing the year unfold.

As with any organization, it is not just the people and their time that make a top-notch organization like ours function. Sponsors play a major role in supporting the mission of the HCAA. We would like to extend a big heartfelt “thank you” to our yearlong sponsors: Arcadis, Cheryl Draa Interior Designs and Vinings Bank.

We understand that serving on a committee requires a big commitment. If you find yourself wanting to remain involved, but committee work isn’t right for you, please consider renewing your HCA Alumni dues for 2017 or consider becoming a sponsor! Your active participation helps keep Cobb Chamber Honorary Commanders Association in the lead of being the premier military civic leader group in the country!
