Public Safety Awards Criteria
Public Safety nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 Public Safety Awards. Before submitting a nomination, please review all criteria. A limit of two nominations will be accepted per community member or public safety agency. The deadline to submit a nomination is Wed., July 11.
Eligibility Requirements
All sworn, non-sworn, civilian employees, communications officers, training staff, etc. are eligible for the Public Safety Employee of the Year award.
Chiefs and senior leadership are NOT ELIGIBLE for the Public Safety Employee of the Year award. They are ELIGIBLE for other awards, such as the Award of Merit, Medal of Valor or the Distinguished Achievement Award. The aforementioned awards are not awarded annually and are only presented if circumstances warrant.
Units such as the Bomb Squad, SWAT Team, etc are NOT ELIGIBLE for the Public Safety Employee of the Year award. They are ELIGIBLE for the Award of Merit. The Award of Merit is not awarded annually and is only presented if circumstances warrant.
