Building Inspection and Permit
Before the remodeling or construction of any building or home in Cobb County, you must contact the Cobb County Building Inspection Department. Should the estimated cost of new construction or repairs to an existing building involve more than $250.00, or if any structural changes are to be made in the building, you must obtain a building permit from the Building Inspection Department before any work begins.

Also please contact the appropriate city office (if you are in an incorporated city of Cobb County). You may not occupy a new building or a renovated building until all construction is complete, final inspections have been completed and a Certificate of Occupancy has been issued. Please be sure that your building is ready for inspection when you request it.

Zoning
Once you have decided upon a location for your business, please contact the Cobb County Zoning Department to find out: a) the appropriate zoning of the property, b) the types of businesses or uses that are permitted by that zoning and applicable development standards, and c) any specific restrictions. The Zoning Department also regulates roadside peddling and the operation of any business in a person's home.

If a variance from the various development standards may be required, you should also contact the Zoning Department to obtain assistance.
