Unincorporated Cobb County
Every business in Cobb County must have a proper business license. A Cobb County business license or Business Registration Certificate must be obtained by businesses located only in unincorporated Cobb County and not in the cities within a county. However, mailing addresses are not always indicative of the jurisdiction where licenses should be obtained.

Within City Limits
A city business license may be required if a business is located within the city limits of any city in Cobb County. If located in a city, but doing business in Cobb County, a city license may be required as well as a Cobb County registration certificate. Check with the appropriate city for specific requirements.

Special Licenses
Food Sales Establishment License
If your business will involve food processing or grocery sales, you must obtain a food sales establishment license from the Georgia Department of Agriculture prior to starting your business. An inspection is also required, which may be requested by phone. An application will be taken from your business after the inspection if your establishment meets the Department's requirements. The Department of Agriculture will assist you in preparing for the inspection should you request their help. Alcoholic Beverage License
Every business in Cobb County which engages in the sale of alcoholic beverages, whether beer, wine, and/or liquor, must have both local alcoholic beverage license and a State alcoholic beverage license. If your place of business is located within an incorporated city limit, a city alcoholic beverage license will be required. A Cobb County alcoholic beverage license will be required for all businesses in unincorporated Cobb County. Your business must have a licensee who is a resident of Cobb County and who will be subject to a review by the applicable police department.
The application forms for the local and the State alcoholic beverage licenses are complex and must be completed prior to the operation of your business. The local authorities as well as the Department of Revenue will assist you in preparing your alcoholic beverage application if you request help.
