2008 SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

Marietta, Ga. (June 2, 2008) – Foot Solutions has been named the 2008 Small Business of the Year by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution at the Chamber’s First Monday Breakfast on June 2.
   For seven years, Marietta based Foot Solutions has been selling unique franchise options. More than 240 Foot Solutions franchises have been opened since CEO Dr. Ray Margiano started the company from ground zero in 2000. Foot Solutions stores target a specific niche with a product line that has a unique mapping system with custom arches that give support for work, dress and play that helps people live a happier more active lifestyle.
   Foot Solutions is located in 13 countries and is expected to continue to grow at the rate of 20 percent each year. At the end of 2007, total sales for the company, including all of the franchise stores, were $100 million.
   Foot Solutions is a self supporting company with no outside funding or angel investors, and it uses innovative methods to solve common business problems. To combat rising overseas costs, Foot Solutions set up its own lab in the United States to reduce cost and provide improved levels of service, eliminated all middle distribution and went direct to the manufacturer to receive exclusive products and reduce the cost of sales by 15 percent.
   Foot Solutions offers custom orthotics and shoes to fit and support feet properly. Each customer receives a 30 minute consultation, and Foot Solutions uses a certified pedorthic training facility to ensure quality and consistency at all of the franchise locations.    
   Foot Solutions’ 50-employee team maintains the highest in performance standards. Margiano and his team also understand the importance and value of being involved in the community.
    “Many fine businesses competed for the award this year, and it was a tough decision,” said Wachovia’s Tony Britton, business services chairman of the Cobb Chamber. “Foot Solutions is a growing, financially sound organization that sets an example for how a small business should be run.”
   As the top small business of Cobb County, Foot Solutions will compete in the state small business of the year competition.
