Principal for a Day Program: The Cobb Chamber’s 7th Annual Principal for a Day Program will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2008. Cobb's business and community leaders will bring their corporate skills into a school setting and shadow a Cobb County or Marietta City public school principal for a half day. They will experience the challenges and rewards of being a leader in our education systems.

Partners in Education: A collective effort of the Cobb Chamber, the Cobb County Public School System and the Marietta City School System, this program matches businesses and organizations with schools to provide volunteer support, extra funding or unique services matched to the schools needs.

Partners in Education’s vision is to enrich the learning experience for Cobb’s children so that all learners will engage in life-long learning that will develop both a strong academic foundation and skills and values to successfully engage in community life and a career.

Give Our Schools a Hand:
Applaud teachers at annual festivities in October

Quality education is integral to economic development, so it is important for businesses to support our educators by participating in the 19th annual Give Our Schools a Hand (GOSH) celebration, Oct. 29 through Nov. 2.

Show your support by honoring your favorite teacher, by lending a hand at your favorite school or by displaying a salute at your place of business.

The purpose of GOSH is not only to show appreciation to teachers in the community, but also to encourage area businesses, parents and civic groups to take an active role in enhancing the quality of education in the public school systems.

Events this year include:

• Teacher of the Year Pep Rally: All Teachers of the Year will be honored at a special breakfast followed by the annual Pep Rally at Roswell Street Baptist Church. The public is invited to attend the Pep Rally at 10 a.m. on Oct. 30.
   

• Celebration Luncheon: All Teachers of the Year, principals, Partners in Education and guests are invited to the luncheon at Roswell Street Baptist Church at 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 30. Reservations are required.

Originated by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce in 1988, the GOSH events are supported by sponsorships from local businesses and organizations.
